Teacher Spotlight – Sarah

Name: Sarah
Classes that you teach: Barre on Tuesdays at 5 pm
What advice would you give to someone who is just starting out on their barre journey? Start out with an open mind and give yourself patience and time as you navigate through the movements.
What is your favorite barre move and why? Movements in plank.  Strengthening and engaging your core helps in all other movements in barre.  And what’s your least favorite yoga pose or barre move and why? Can’t think of one
What’s your favorite barre quote or mantra? Good pain is good, bad pain means stop and adjust.
What made you want to teach barre? Dance has been a part of my life since I was 3 years old.  I love fitness in general and barre brings together fitness with ballet movements.
How would you describe your classes/teaching style?  I like to workout with my students so we’re working hard together.  Each class I try to work in a total body workout and target muscle groups from head to toe.
What is one piece of advice you always give your students? Adjust the movements or level to what your body needs are.
What do you want students to take away from your classes? Feel good about the work they just put in when they walk out the door.
How does barre connect with your life off the mat? Dance and fitness is a big part of my life.  I also enjoy seeing my students every week.
What is your advice to beginners? Give your body time to recover and know that with each class the recovery gets easier.
What do you like to do when you’re not at Pressed?  Spend time with my husband and 3 kids, travel,  coach my high school dance team.
